Inflatable

WechatIMG107.jpeg

At the very top of this inflated arch used in China to mourn the dead is the word “奠”, which means "Respect with Sadness". The Inflatable gate is laid out in a traditional way where couplets are written on the columns. In Chinese, "East" and "West" put together means "everything". In modern society, there are many issues analogous to the "East" and the "West" in many dimensions. They are not restricted to politics, social issues, relationships or any specific topic. They are more like Ying Yang in "Taiji" and the two poles in the spectrum. They are not able to be fused to each other but could be living harmoniously with a sense of "Respect with Sadness". To recognise the fundamental differences between "East" and "West", and to "respect with sadness" is the Taoist's and Buddhist's way of resolving some of the most obvious conflicts. However, the process needs to be pumped consistently or it would be collapsed in a minute. It is not only a representation of my spiritual practice but a metaphor of many other things that happen everyday in the world now and in the history.
